Edmodo is also referred to as an "educational twitter" because it is microblogging.
It is where teachers can message with their students for any assistance and annoucements, post any important events in the calendar, put up notes and assignments, post grades, and privately chat to students if necessary.
It is also a great tool for parents to get information and communicate with the teacher.
Teachers use it not only to communicate with their students and parents but also outside of their classroom and work with other teachers and administrators to better, effectively teach and motivate students.
Students can be safely monitored on Edmodo and cannot message other students.
Teacher can choose to make certain aspects of their classroom Edmodo page public but this feature is not for students.
Students do not need an email account to register for Edmodo, only the teacher needs to send them a passcode and they have instant access to ONLY that group.

3 It will also be a great tools for parents for students in my classroom because they will know what students grades are and if the student really does have home work or not,
Social Studies
1. I will post lectures, presentations, and assignments ahead of time so there are little excuses as to why a student has not turned in an assignment or a late one.
2. I will be readily available during certain times if students need my any assistance on their assignments or have questions. Of course, I will be on during times outside of my "available times" but students have a better chance of interacting with me during those times.
3. Links will be posted of various websites to virtual museums, YouTube clips, podcasts, GoogleEarth, among other things for students to explore with and without me to really grasp the concepts and ideas or it could be just for fun.
4. My calendar will be posted for parents and students to view and I communication with parents might be easier this way instead of sending mass amounts of emails which can get lost in the inbox. I will also put up weekly newsletters so parents will know what their students are going to be learning and doing the upcoming week also announcements about major projects and assignments will be within the newsletter. Students cannot "lose" the newsletter and parents will know what is going on.
5. My classroom is going to try to become paperless but I do not want to post tests and quizzes on although it is a available so I think I will at least reduce the number of paper used in my classroom.
6. Whenever possible I will try to design my lesson plan with other teachers so students are learning within the same time period but about different subjects.
